Out on my mountain bike I just reached the bench that overlooks the Guadalupe Reservoir when I saw the fire.  This was about 4pm.  I had no camera, I thought. Then I remembered my iPhone. Best camera is thew one you have with you......

There were two tanker runs to dump fire retardant. The iPhone camera is very wide angle. I was actually pretty close this huge plane.  It had to bank hard after the drop, which was really spectacular

Here is another view from up on the Mine Hill trail. On my way up to this point I met a ranger in his truck, then the sheriff on an all terain vehicle

The lone hellicopter was the hero of the day, making run after run, geeting water from the reservoir and dumping it on the flames
